    What Our Customers Are Saying

It was fascinating to see the quality of DNA personally and all the sperm in those images. My Doctor recommended this specific one, as it measured DNA fragmentation. Me and wife have been trying for about a year now. Good news is that most metrics look intact, just need to work out more and take some supplements

We'd already done a basic semen analysis at home and everything came back normal but we still weren't getting pregnant. Our doctor brought up DNA fragmentation so we looked into tests that actually measured it. Mine came back higher than it should be. Not what you want to see but at least we knew what we were working with

My wife and I got a Mate Health kit as a wedding gift and honestly didn't really know what to make of it at first. But we figured, why not. Glad we did. Seeing the results together actually gave us both a lot of confidence going into the next chapter.

Excellent experience! We used mate heath to get my husband tested. However, we didn’t read the instructions carefully and collected a sample on a Friday (one of the days they don’t accept shipments). I reached out to customer service and they got us a replacement right away. We got the results within 24 hours. My husband’s numbers also came back really good. Don’t hesitate to use mate health!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our products, services, and policies.

    Comprehensive Semen Analysis

Who is the Comprehensive Semen Analysis for?

The Comprehensive Semen Analysis may be appropriate for men who are trying to conceive with a partner, starting a fertility evaluation, or looking for a clinical semen analysis without collecting in a clinic setting.

If you have a known medical condition, are already under fertility care, or have received abnormal semen analysis results in the past, we recommend reviewing testing options with your healthcare provider.

What does the Comprehensive Semen Analysis include?

The Comprehensive Semen Analysis reports core semen analysis parameters and additional calculated values designed to help patients and physicians better understand sperm health.

Results may include semen volume, sperm concentration, total sperm count, motility, progressive motility, motility subtypes, morphology, velocity, functional sperm concentration, and derived sperm counts.

Do I need a doctor to order this test?

No. A doctor’s referral is not required to order a Mate Health kit.

If you would like your results sent to your physician, you can provide your provider’s information when registering your kit.

What should I do if my results are abnormal?

An abnormal semen analysis does not mean you cannot conceive.

Semen parameters can vary from sample to sample. Your physician may recommend repeating the test, reviewing lifestyle or medication factors, ordering hormone testing, evaluating for varicocele or other conditions, or referring you to a reproductive urologist.

    Advanced Semen Analysis

Who should consider Advanced Semen Analysis?

Advanced Semen Analysis may be appropriate for men or couples looking for a more expanded view of sperm health, including DNA fragmentation and vitality.

It may be especially relevant for couples with unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, prior fertility treatment challenges, or abnormal semen analysis results. Advanced testing should be reviewed with a physician in the context of the full fertility evaluation.

    What is DNA fragmentation testing?

DNA fragmentation testing evaluates the integrity of DNA carried by sperm.

A standard semen analysis looks at sperm quantity, movement, and shape. DNA fragmentation testing looks at whether sperm DNA shows signs of strand damage. This can be relevant for some couples experiencing unexplained infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, or fertility treatment challenges.

    What is sperm vitality?

Sperm vitality measures the percentage of sperm that are alive.

This can be especially useful when motility is very low. A semen analysis may show many immotile sperm, but immotile does not always mean non-viable. Vitality testing helps distinguish sperm that are alive but not moving from sperm that are non-viable.

Does DNA fragmentation predict pregnancy outcomes?

No. DNA fragmentation does not predict pregnancy outcomes by itself.

It is one sperm health marker that may provide additional context when reviewed with a physician alongside semen analysis results, medical history, partner evaluation, and fertility treatment history.

    Post-Vasectomy Product

Why do I need a post-vasectomy semen analysis?

A vasectomy is not considered confirmed until semen analysis shows that sperm are absent or below the clearance threshold used by your physician.

Post-vasectomy semen analysis helps determine whether additional contraception is still needed. Do not stop using contraception until your physician confirms clearance.

When should I collect a post-vasectomy semen analysis?

    Follow your physician’s instructions.

Many physicians recommend testing after a specific number of weeks and ejaculations following vasectomy. Timing can vary based on your procedure, physician preference, and clinical guidelines.

What does Mate Health report for post-vasectomy testing?

Mate Health reports post-vasectomy semen analysis in a physician-ready format, including whether sperm are detected and, when applicable, quantitative residual sperm concentration.

Mate Health reporting is designed to support physician interpretation and clearance decisions.

Does a negative post-vasectomy result mean I am sterile?

A post-vasectomy semen analysis can support physician clearance when sperm are absent or below the accepted threshold.

Your physician should make the final clearance decision. Continue using contraception until your physician tells you it is safe to stop.

What if sperm are still detected after vasectomy?

If sperm are detected, your physician may recommend continued contraception and repeat testing.

In some cases, residual non-motile sperm may clear over time. Your physician will interpret the result based on the amount of sperm detected, whether motile sperm are present, time since vasectomy, and applicable clinical guidance.
